The Poor Man`s Garry Bushell2
Jon Gaunt is a shock jock with a big mouth and no talent. He likes to think he is equal to Garry Bushell and James Whale - but he is just a third-rate Littlejohn.
His radio show is rubbish, his column in The Sun, the worst thing in a brilliant paper and his life story is boring and dull just like his home town of Coventry.
Gaunt claims he discovered The Specials, check the archives and you will find it was Garry Bushell who discovered the ska kegends.
Gaunt claims he is a `man of the people` but he is not. Unlike the working class Liberals Garry Bushell and James Whale - Mr Gaunt is just a Chav.
This book does not come close to the James Whale book or Bushell Off The Box by Garry Johnson...

A cracking read - Both funny and moving5
Being a Coventrian like Sir Jon of Gaunt I obviously have a vested interest in this book , but even if you switch off every time his voice illuminates the airwaves I would urge you to read his story , as it is a poignant , often shocking , but frequently hilarious tale of how a man refused to allow tragic death , childrens home abuse , and bankruptcy destroy his life and rose again like a phoenix from the ashes to become of the most talked about radio presenters in Britain .The language is at times candid and Jon pulls no punches with this account of his story so far , but this fascinating book has a moral and that is that it is far better to try and make a success of your life and lose everything than to just be another one of the snipers on the sidelines.Like him or loath him , and I can firmly say I am very pro - Jon , you cannot deny that he is man who refuses to be ignored , and why should he be, as Jon fights for the normal person and stands up for the silent millions who are fed up with aspects of life in our great country at the moment but who are frighted to speak out in case of being called racists or belittled by the liberal brigade. When you read this book , you will discover that Jon has no such reservations.

A good read5
I've always liked Gaunty and agreed with most, but not all of his views. So to buy this book was a no-brainer.

It's a good read, taking the reader right from his young days when his abusive father's behaviour led to him going in a home and the subsequent fight of his Aunt Rosemary (who his first daughter Rosie is named after)

Then on to the Tic-Toc club and his subsequent money problems, whilst also writing on Emmerdale Farm.

Finally as we know him best today, as a radio presenter, how he nearly gave up before he started and how his success allowed him to climb the ladder, leading to his current posistion at TalkSport and The Sun.

The epilogue is also brilliant, a poignant and moving account of the day his Dad died, written by his youngest daughter Bethany.

For anyone who likes Gaunty or even has a passing interest, it will be money well spent
