Epitome of Wuthering Heights
I am a great fan of musicals. Heathcliff by far is one of the best Musicals I have heard. The lyrics by Tim Rice is absoluetly amazing. John Farar has scored the music in such a fashion that it has provided us with an image of Cliff Richard that we have never seen before. Cliff, Tim Rice and Farar has created a Heathcliff that is as close to the character in Emily Bronte's book as possible. Helen Hobson who plays the role of Cathy has done it to perfection. Heathcliff is a must for any person who likes Cliff Richard, John Farar or Tim Rice. The rest of you well if you listen to this musical then you will know why Cliff, Rice and Farar are considered the biggest names in music.
Cliff's dream come true (at last!)
I've always enjoyed "live" albums and this one containing Cliff's dream of Heathcliff is really a good one. The production is faultless, the live sound crisp and superb and Cliff is making his dream come true by singing his heart out. He's as good as ever, particularly on "Misunderstood Man", "Had To Be" and "Be With Me Always" tracks. Helen Hobson is a wonderful singer with a warm voice and deserves a great career in the musical world. Quality lyrics by no less than Sir Tim Rice set the story alive. The music though... John Farrar (of "Grease" fame) tried his best but the overall result is rather dissappointing. Several tracks could stand out as pop/rock singles but as a whole stage show the music is rather weak and incompatible with the show's mood and style. A great pitty...
