Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Though Morning View follows hot on the heels of Incubus' breakthrough single "Drive", in no way does this fine album sound rushed (after all, their previous album Make Yourself was released nearly two years previously). Like fellow Los Angeles metal pioneers System of a Down, Incubus find themselves lumped in with the nu-metal fraternity merely because they're young(ish), angry and very loud. That's more than a little unfair, because their sound owes more to the clever and creative funk-metal of Faith No More or the Red Hot Chilli Peppers than the faux-rap posturing of Limp Bizkit. In fact, songs like "Nice to Know You", "Circles" and the excellent "Blood on the Ground" barely display any immature attitude problems at all, in spite of being both angry and very loud. But that's not all that sets Incubus apart: on "I Wish You Were Here", "Just a Phase", "11am" and "Mexico", Incubus show an uncharacteristic willingness to tread softly when necessary, using acoustic guitars and touches of strings to make less noise, but more impact. Some could call it selling out, but it sounds more like growing up. Morning View is a leap forward for a band who continue to get better with each release. --Robert Burrow

Undoubtedly, Morning View is Incubus's finest work.
Encompassing a varied range of musical styles from previous efforts, Morning View includes hard hitting, riff filled fury through the likes of "Circles", right through to the powerfully mellowed "11am".

Of the five singles taken from the album are the eternal classics "Wish You Were Here" and "Are You In". Hardly a rocker doesn't know the words and tune to Wish You Were Here, and the refreshingly, jazzily different "Are You In" certainly merits a place on the album. However I can't help but feel that these two songs are only the classics they are because of the majority of the fan base... (I suppose that only makes sense ;))

...but honestly, the sheer power and prowess that comes through the guitar driven track "Blood On The Ground" has got to be the album's defining moment. Here Brandon Boyd really showcases his vocal range with some soaring yells and grunting anger.

There are no album filler tracks to be found here. Just pure rock gold.

Definitely not 'run-of-the-mill'!4
This album is very diverse and therein lies its appeal. I think you can guess what you're getting by looking at the cover art.The CD doesn't disappoint,it is heavy when it has to be but there are several thoughtful tracks too, such as 'Wish You Were Here', 'Mexico', 'Echo' (need I go on?!).Buy this if you like your rock a tad mellower than the norm. Closest comparison to another band's work in my opinion would be 'Break The Cycle' by Staind (but more optimistic!!)

BEST ALBUM EVER!5
Not really a review, more a statement:
