The Ultimate Who Collection kicks off with the three-minute pop gems of their early days such as "I Can't Explain", "Substitute" and the definitive anthem of the time "My Generation". "I Can See For Miles" heralds the band's coming of age preceding songs like "Magic Bus" and the classics from Tommy including "See Me, Feel Me" and of course "Pinball Wizard". Further highlights on disc one are "Summertime Blues" from the Live at Leeds album where Roger has never sounded in finer voice, and perhaps one of the best rock moments ever "Won't Get Fooled Again".

Disc two includes less well known hits but does boast the best bits from their film Quadrophenia. Still as powerful without the visuals, they attack "Love Reign O'er Me" like they really mean every single note and word. During the 70s they toned down the raw rock they captured at the turn of the decade and embraced the pop sensibility of their youth, settling for a handsome blend of very British guitar pop and solid power chords best defined by "You Better You Bet". Unlike the Beatles or Rolling Stones, The Who's image has remained anti-establishment despite being no less gentrified than their wrinkly peers, probably due to their music sounding as angsty and passionate now as it did over 30 years ago. --David Trueman

I can rant about how beautiful Gary Sinise is another day, but now, this is all about The Who.
The Who. Who are they you migh ask. Who are The Who? How can you answer a quistion like that...
They are maybe the best British band ever. They are unique. Sensational, brillaint and have fancy hair. (Not pointing at anyone, Roger. XD)
If I ever met someone named Baba O'Riely, i'd tell her to stop crying, we all live in a Teenage Wasteland anyway...
And The Who made that Teenage Wasteland a better place...

Best live band in the world!
A fantastic compilation,completely re-mastered for fans and would-be fans alike.If you're wondering why the WHO were clearly the best band of that overly-long ,partly boring LIVE AID concert,get this dvd at a great price from Amazon,bring it home,turn up the volume and get some maximum R&B !Most bands have trouble recreating on stage the sound they make in the studio.The WHO are the only band with the opposite problem-recreating in the studio the fantastic sound they make LIVE -they are that good.

brilliant....classic
This album really does sum up everything the Who are. Featuring classics like "pinball wizard" "Baba O'Riley" and "We don't get fooled again"....it is also a brilliant way to introduce the Who to a new audience.

Townsend's songs/guitar with Daltery's vocal's, with Entwistle's guitar and Moon on the drums is a killer combo...in one great song after another

One quibble I have is that one of my favourite songs "Going Mobile" a great example of the Who as a trio {no Daltery} is not featured apart from that fantastic, brilliant album.
