Fantastic, Excellent, Amazing, Great, Fabulous, Super....
Who sings the praises of a praise album?
Me.
Newsboys are one of those bands where you can buy a CD of theres and know that it'll be a good listen, at least for a while.
This CD though, has to be one of their best and is probably the only CD in my collection that I will never tire of.
In Christ Alone, which happens to be my favourite hymn, here sung by my favourite band, is, for me, a classic. It is worth buying the whole CD just for that song, and if you do, you won't be disappointed by the other 9 songs!
If you fancy being moved, Amazing Love (You Are My King) is the one which will bring a tear to your eye as you are reminded of what Christ went through for you.
If your in need of some encouragement, Lord I Don't Know is great; "Lord I don't know where all this is going, or how it all turns out, lead me to peace that is past understanding, a peace beyond all doubt" A great reminder of what he can do for you.
But if you just want to sing at the top of your voice, and be left grinning ear to ear, He Reigns, is the song for you. Slightly less tuneful choruses of "Glory Glory, Hallelujah he Reigns, he reigns" have been heard in my house more than once...
And of course, if none of those four float your boat, then there are six more, ultimately brilliant songs. If ever there was an album which demanded the need for more positive adjectives in the English language, this is it.
Another Great God Focused Artist Lead Worship CD
Newsboys join the worship trend with this CD. Unlike many others, however, 8 of the 10 songs are Newsboys originals and only two of those are live versions of songs they’ve previously released.
The CD opens with “He Reigns,” one of my two favorites from the disc. This song is a joyful proclamation of God’s power and a bit of a reminder of how important it is for Christians to proclaim it.
My other favorite is the final song “Hallelujah,” a look ahead to the never ending praise session in Heaven.
In between are more great songs like “Great is Your Faithfulness,” (not the hymn, but just as good) “Take My Hands (Praises),” live songs “Lord (I Don’t Know)” and “It is You,” and the covers “You are my King (Amazing Love)” and “In Christ Alone.”
I’m not a big Newsboys fan, so I can’t comment on the style of this CD in relation to their other releases, but I do know that it’s gotten lots of play time since I bought it.
As an added bonus, the guitar chords for 7 of the songs are included with the lyrics in the booklet. While it seems funny that they didn’t include the chords next to the other three songs, I’m very happy to have those 7.
I’m glad I took a chance and bought this CD. It will be pointing me to God for many years to come.
One word WOW!!!
This is an absolutely awesome album. Listened to it first time and wasn't fussed so gave it a second try and it didn't come out of my cd player for weeks. Powerful music accompanied with powerful, powerful words add up to a time of incredible praise and worsip when listening to this collection. Among the highlights of the album is 'In Christ Alone', which must now rank as one of my all time favourite hymns. Yes, ok, it wasn't written by the Furler and the gang but their adaptation is powerful and moving. Where as "Lord (I don't know)' shows an atittude of ultimate trust in the saviour with this song coming to me at a turning point in my life and so of extra significance for me. Then of course there is also the anthemic 'Holy, Holy' which will just blow you away. By far the best album they have ever made. Not the usual quirky guys they used to be, this album shows an amazing maturity which lifts your whole being. Absolutely outstanding, there are not enough good words to say about it!!!!
