Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
It's been a long ten years since Take That disbanded. Their recent reformation and world tour offered overwhelming evidence that, far from being forgotten, the post-Robbie quartet can still command hysterical amounts of goodwill and adoration. Beautiful World illustrates why this is so. Written in conjunction with songwriter/producer John Shanks (Ashlee Simpson, Anastacia, Alanis Morissette), the album is crammed full with the songwriting magic that made their rise to fame so meteoric in the first place. Far from being an exercise in nostalgia, the project moves the band in a slightly new direction. The four come across as more mature, more democratic (all members share songwriting credits on the album, rather than just Barlow), and even more adept at making epic pop that somehow avoids the cheese factor. Lead single "Patience" is a perfect example of how powerful and accessible their songs can be. It'd be a good contender for the album's peak moment if the rest of the tracks weren't so damn good too. With traditional Take That style songs (the immediately likeable "Reach Out", the brimming "Like I Never Loved You At All"), nicely punctuated up by incongruous outings like Jason Orange's folkish "Wooden Boat" and Mark's upbeat, Beatles-esque "Shine", Beautiful World sets a whole new standard for a band previously known more for their singles than their long-players.--Danny McKenna

Simply the best5
Just how did they decide which song should be a single. With perhaps the exception of Wooden Boat, all of these songs could have been a single. All the lads take a turn at singing lead and all take credit for the combined work. A truly incredible feat, for the best selling band in the country to take 10 years off, not only come back but come back better. If this is a refection of what we are to expect in the future I can't wait for the next album

Believe the hype - this is an amazing album5
I didn't have a huge amount of time for Take That + Robbie, I thought they were ok, fair to middling, with some good pop songs under their belt. Then they disbandded and Gary was able to concentrate on writing and producing music, and kept popping up with some incredible songs performed by other people, his craft was honed to perfection away from the limelight.

I brought Beautiful World as one of the girls at work said that it wasn't like their earlier stuff, it was a lot more mellow and I would enjoy it. She was not wrong, I always have this on my iPod or the stereo, easily listening to it 2 or 3 times a week, still over a year since I brought it.

The songs are pitch perfect with them all sharing out the vocals so the songs sound the best, not to ensure they all get a go, the album has some slick production, but the simplest and most effective song which can move me to tears even now is Wooden Boat, which is just Jason and his guitar - beautiful.

I cannot urge you enough to buy this album, if you are interested in an exercise of song writing craft, and to measure the depth of their talent, then turn to this CD and like me just dance along to the older stuff at weddings!

An extremely Beautiful Journey!5
This album is fantastic, from start to end is like a journey, and believe me, one of the best journes you can have, every song is magical and different but somehow they all fit together perfectly!
A MUST and the DVD...AMAZING! The interview is just brilliant and its great fun!
