Battle Bible
I had some serius trouble drawing good figting scenes, but after I got my hands on this book, I have to say that my drawings took a leap for the better.
There are exellent drawings with good and usefull comments on every page of the book, ranging from simple bruises over to punches/kicks how they work best, and ending with my favorite, how to make clothes seem battleworn. All described in easy to understand language.
This book is a must have for any artist no matter the skill. You can always find just what you need in this little baby. Really great. Buy it and do so now if you ever even considered starting to draw battles.
Superb Fighting
This book really isn't for the absolute beginner, but for someone who has just a tiny idea of what he is doing.
The book covers nearly every single basic move of hand to hand combat, gives great tips on improving the detail and it is easy to find just that move you need to draw.
The artwork is great, showing kick, punches, slaps, throws and selfdefense(submission) in several angles with a little tip or hint for them all.
Also included is sections on damage dealt, like how a swollen face look depending on how hard you hit it.
A whole section is dedicated to characters that are being or have been knocked over and how they scramble to their feet again. Studying this section carefully can give your artwork or story some nice scenes...
The catfight (schoolgirl, or more specifically "Sailor Suit" fight) shows the movement of the clothes, how it folds and so forth. Quite interesting, really... hehehe...
All in all a great book covering fighting scenes and actions, but get some additional inspiration. There are several other How To Draw Manga books that covers this subject.
I can now draw manga and it only took me a week!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is a fantastic book and it relly helps budding cartoonists to get a good start, with it's helpful hints and clearly labled digrams this book is a must for all those wanna be animaters.
