Customer Reviews

Excellent, and easy5
Very easy to set up, good instructions, and it just worked straight out of the box. Very good wireless reception, although won't sustain the higher wireless transmission speeds for long (gets disrupted by cordless phones, other mobiles, so have re-set to lowest - default - wireless speed, where it is unaffected). Recommend it as solid basis for a fast home wireless network.

A breeze to set up and use5
I needed a new router as I was moving to Virgin media and I've always been happy with Netgear stuff in the past, so I took the plunge with this one.

Setup was very simple and within minutes I was surfing away. Everything I have thrown at it, connection wise ( iMac wireless, Samsung NC10 wireless, XBox 360 wired and PS3 wireless ), has worked straight away and the connection remians fast, no matter what I'm doing. Obviously this is attributable to the excellent Virgin broadband connection too.

The only slight problem was the PSU packed up within days, but luckily the router Virgin give you free is another Netgear and the power supply is compatible.

Not that impressed3
It was a nightmare to set up (taking the best part of an afternoon, with more than £30 worth of calls to the £1 a minute Delhi-based help-line) and it regularly falls off. We use two i-Phones and a Mac laptop with it. The broadband comes via Virgin cable.

Maybe we're doing something wrong, but my wife and I are by no means computer illiterate. Oh, and my wife comes from Delhi herself, speaks Hindi and ended up having a good rant at the call-centre guy for prolonging the conversation - and thus creating revenue for Netgear - by asking pointless questions.

This router was a replacement for a Zoom one which, albeit slower, worked straight out of the box, though it suddenly died for no apparent reason. Wireless internet in the home is fraught with problems and next time I think I'll just buy a Mac Airport. More expensive, but I suspect it will be easy to set up and won't keep falling over.
