Product Description

A Practical Approach to Conveyancing takes a pragmatic, rather than academic, approach to conveyancing. It provides practical solutions to everyday problems encountered by conveyancing practitioners. This eighth edition contains precedent documents, clauses, and forms that provide the blueprint for highly effective procedural structures. Checklists and key point summaries have been added throughout the text to make the style more accessible. The eighth edition offers increased coverage of VAT, information on the new Home Information Packs, considers the impact of the Civil Partnership Act 2004 and examines the impact of Bowman v Fells in relation to reporting suspected money laundering. Detailed explanations of the law are accompanied by a number of practical suggestions to help save time and money. The book has established itself as a core text on the Legal Practice Course for students wishing to have a more applied overview of property law and practice. A new paragraph numbering system allows lecturers to highlight better the most relevant parts of the text and a slightly increased page size ensures students have room to write notes in the margin. The book is also essential reading for solicitors, their support staff, trainee solicitors, licensed conveyancers, legal executives and others involved or interested in the conveyancing process. Online Resource Centre The Online Resource Centre features additional information on commercial conveyancing, including an note on the new Law Society's Code of Conduct, specimen forms, and links to useful websites. A test bank of questions allows lecturers to test their students' understanding of the topics covered in the book.

Customer Reviews

Succinct and informative5
Effective written communication is a skill possessed by only a few. The writers of this book have that skill. The subject is logically separated and then presented in a writing style that is clear, concise and informative. All this would be lost if the layout and text style were poor; they are not. A great team effort by authors and publishers.

Not for Conveyancing DIYers4
I agree with the previous reviewer. However if you're thinking of doing your own conveyancing this is a good reference and answers a lot of questions that you might have having downloaded a law pack. This book is really intended for law students. For simple freehold selling a monkey could do the conveyancing so don't be put off by solicitors who might treat you with a little disdain.

A really readable alternative to Silverman5
Everyone knows how comprehensive the Law Society Conveyancing Handbook by Frances Silverman is and that it is considered the top reference source for conveyancing. However, Silverman gets some stiff competition from Robert Abbey and Mark Richards in the very aptly named "A Practical Approach to Conveyancing". This is a really good book written in a very readable style and it has become my first point of reference for conveyancing matters.
