5* This is a superb account, relied on by generations of law students. Elegantly written & ultra-reliable, benefits from historical intro by Brian Simpson.
Treitel on the Law of ContractTreitel on the Law of Contract by Edwin Peel

4* Not the liveliest text on the market, but it is extremely detailed and has lots of references to articles, so is a brilliant starting point for researching an essay. Rigourously analytical.

5* Sit at the feet of the horse's mouth. When the House of Lords and the Court of Appeal want to know what the criminal law is, this is the book they turn to! Utterly authoritative.

Textbook on Contract LawTextbook on Contract Law by Jill Poole
Buy used from: £0.98
3/4* Not, and not meant to be, equivalent to CFF/Treitel but joint best of the lighter contract texts & like McKendrick, Poole is a serious academic with a reputation to protect.
Casebook on Contract LawCasebook on Contract Law by Jill Poole
Buy new: £26.99 / Used from: £2.54
3* Excellent as an aide memoire when revising contract - it will remind you what a case was about - but no casebook is as good as reading actual cases, and Poole's excerpts are very short indeed.
Contract Law (Palgrave Macmillan Law Masters)Contract Law (Palgrave Macmillan Law Masters) by Ewan McKendrick
Buy used from: £0.33
3/4* - see comments on Poole's textbook above - good lighter text - use this if you struggle with a topic but THEN read up the topic in CFF or Treitel.
