The best fitness dvd I've ever bought!
So many fitness dvds are too fast, don't take time to explain the little bits of info and instead focus too much on the celebrity in it (who isn't always performing the move correctly). This dvd is the complete opposite. The instructor explains clearly how to perform each posture and the breathing that goes with it. Importantly its not too easy either, but does challenge the beginner and offers variation on the posture if you suffer from back problems etc. There is also a 20min intermediate routine once you feel its time for more challenges! This dvd has so far helped me keep my New Year resolution.
Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies
Great introduction to yoga, easy to follow and slow enough to keep up with. Teaches correct breathing and positions and breaksdown exactly how each position should feel. Get this dvd before trying any other yoga dvds
A good start - but infuriatingly slow
O.k. maybe a bit harsh. The intro is good, and setting up for the exercises also good. I was looking for a good intro to that 'inner self' and to increase flexibility and reduce stress! However this left me feeling I had missed out a lot on the yoga experience. I found the 'lift up the corners of your mouth and smile' approach patronising, and the pace slow (I know yoga is focus for the mind and body and relaxing but come on I nearly fell asleep!). I admit to the complete beginner, scared of classes and who has never tried to stretch or exercise before this may be a good start, if you know a little about yourself, you may want to look for something with more than the 'daily dozen' poses that are limited.
Further infuriating is that not only does it take an age to set up for each pose, once you know them there is no way to get through the workout without all the set-up for each one...i.e 35 mins or so of exercise take a lot longer to get through, you find yourself adding extra breathing cycles to keep on going!
As a note - I also got the pilates for dummies, and the difference is vast - that one is great!
