Product Description

Moodle is a free, open-source Learning Management System (LMS). Moodle is designed to help educators and trainers create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. It is the world's most popular online learning system. It has many modules, which you can use to make your course unique and create an environment where your students will get maximum benefit. If you are a teacher or a corporate trainer with a desire to design effective and innovative Moodle courses, then this book is your best choice. The book assumes that you have a basic understanding of Moodle, but it does not need any programming knowledge. It's all about teaching and not programming. If you are new to Moodle, start with Moodle E-Learning Course Development by the same author.

Customer Reviews

Moodle Teaching Techniques5
This book is an excellent follow-on from William's first book "Moodle:
E-Learning Course Development" because it focuses on why you would use a
particular type of interactive module (i.e. Forum, Chat, Quiz, Lesson, Wiki,
Glossary, Choice, Course and Workshop) and then how to go about implementing
it from the students point-of-view.

This is a solutions orientated book that "begins with the student in mind"
and asks you to consider why you would use a particular feature and what is
the most effective ways to engage and motivate the student to use and enjoy
the Learning environment.

Each chapter is clearly laid-out and leads you progressively through
constructing a student scenario by discussing a number of key options that
can be used to enhance the student <> teacher and student <> student
experience. Each chapter contains many screenshots to supplement William's
explanations.

Whether you are new to Moodle, or an experienced Moodler, I am certain you
can learn much from William's book, which will help you improve the design
of your courses and the quality of the content you present to the students.

Only buy this is you really know you way round Moodle3
Gets you thinking about the possibilities of Moodle, but feels like an attempt to stretch it to fit all problems when Moodle sometimes isn't the right choice. Also, not especially useful for corporate settings - this book is much more aimed at Education (as is Moodle to a large extent).
Get Using Moodle if you want a clear and concise guide to get you started and this if you want to start getting a bit clever with it!
