Customer Reviews
Energy efficient - but blue/white and not the brightest lamp
This is a very energy efficient light. The light is reasonably warm for an LED light. It does run cold and never gets too hot to touch so it's ideal for places where heat build-up from a traditional halogen bulb would be a problem.
It fits perfectly into a standard GU10 fitting so a straight replacement for Halogen GU10s. They come on instantly and at full light when you hit the switch.
There are some down sides, these being:
The amount of light they give out is relatively low and it's quite blue/white. Not even equivalent to a 20W halogen, more like say 10W, even with 18 LEDs. The light is also relatively concentrated into a smallish spot. I think that you would need an awful lot of these in an average sized kitchen to provide a decent light.
They are useful to provide highlights and for places where less light is needed.
great idea but not as bright as you expect
I got these lights to replace 50W GU10's to provide softer lighting. These LEDs are about the same as a 25W bulb. I have used them in conjunction with the regular 50Ws by having 4x 50W and 4x LED on separate circuits in the conservatory. The LED lights are on an motion sensor and pop on and off, and create a moon light affect, and when needed the full 50Ws can be used.
I would recommend these bulbs for areas needing low level light if used in existing fittings, but if installing GU10 fittings you could reduce the spacings and get higher light levels. But remember these bulbs do not produce the same colour light but a more blue colour (like moon light).
GU10 LED
Much less bright than the halogens they replace, but I presume they will last indefinitely and of course cost next-to-nothing to run.
