Up to now I have searched for books thats will help me start on a more serious level in painting and drawing. I have bought many books and articles on the issue which most go on and on in the same philosophy. What to buy and how to hold it and the most examples go from a beginning to end with few tips on how to achieve the middle steps.
Drawing and Painting People: The Essential Guide on the other hand gave me reader an the tips needed to elevate my drawing style.
This is a must for beginners & intermediate level artists.
Other few books that worked fine for me are :
Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing,
Classical Drawing Atelier: A Contemporary Guide to Traditional Studio Practice.

A good pressie.3
I bought this book for myself but it would make a good gift.
It is nicely laid out, well written and explained.
However some parts did seem familiar and when I looked at another book (have loaned this so don't have title) I'm sure the same examples appear.

Anyway it is good value for money and the paperback cover means it is easy to throw in your rucksack and take with you.
