Bestselling author Claudia Nice shows how to draw and paint colourful seascapes, shorelines and beach scenes using watercolour textured with pen and ink. With the help of reference photos and field sketches, Claudia demonstrates how to create realistic and colourful paintings ranging from dramatic whitewater waves to more intimate vignettes such as sailboat marinas and tropical beaches. Each chapter explores in detail a different component of seascape painting, with the details being combined into 30 full-sized finished paintings to show how a composition is pulled together.

Customer Reviews
A brilliant source book
This is well up to the author's usual standard. It is full of ideas and techniques for tackling a pretty comprehensive variety of aspects of the coast, with watercolour and pen and ink and other media as well. Other artists tend to show you how they painted particular pictures and then encourage you to go and play around with the ideas. Claudia Nice shows you her playing around, as well as studies, and finished pieces. It is almost impossible not to get caught up in trying things out for yourself. This book is like a breath of the sea air. As inspiring as the real thing.
seascapes
This book covers all aspects of seascapes in mostly watercolour and pen and ink but also touches on acrylics. The same principles of painting the sea and shorelines can be applied to any medium, however.
The book is divided into chapters dealing with different elements such as rocks, boats, animals and people, and different weather types. It also shows how to build up texture on rocks and particularly sand.
Altogether this is a good book for beginners and more experienced artists as well.
