Synopsis
Features every episode of the classic comedy of manners. One of the most popular shows on British television in the 1970s, UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS offered an amusing juxtaposition on the lives of a rich family, who live upstairs, and their servants and staff, who all live downstairs. Upstairs Downstairs: The Complete Series [DVD]
I loved this series when it was first aired back in the 1970's and I have loved watching it again. All 68 episodes, over 5 series with the addition of 5 episodes of "The Upstairs, Downstairs Story" - one at the end of each series - in which actors/writers/directors tell you of their reminiscences of making the series.

Anyone who enjoys period drama at it's best will soon become involved with the Bellamy's (Upstairs) and the staff (Downstairs) of 165 Eaton Place, London. From the early 1900's and the grandeur of Edwardian Britain, the sinking of the Titanic, the effects of WW1 on the household and through to the 1920's, the 'gay young things', the General Strike and finally the Wall Street Crash. This series shows how the way of life, for those living at 165 Eaton Place, changed over the 26/27 years that is covered. Watch it and you too will be there with them.

Those that know this series will love watching it again and those that have never seen it - you are in for a real treat.

Excellent value iconic TV series
Upstairs Downstairs can be considered one of the greatest UK TV series ever. To be able to purchase the entire series at this price is an excellent opportunity for those who are too young to remember the series first time round, but who may have an idea of its fine reputation.

Highly recommended - you won't find much current material which has the depth of this series.

Excellent product and now reasonable price. Period piece in more than one way; both the period setting and the "Seventies" style of production. The acting quality endures and the socio-economic undertones and overtones make this a classic piece of British Television history.
