Synopsis
The forests of Sevenwaters have cast their spell over Sorcha's daughter Liadan, who, like her mother, has inherited the talent to heal and to see into the spirit world. Can Liadan defy the spirits, or will a curse fall upon Sevenwaters because of her forbidden love for The Painted Man?

Customer Reviews

The most romantic part of the Sevenwaters triology5
The Sevenwaters triology by Juliet Marillier is a series of books based in the Ireland of old, following a family (and its decendents) that live in a forest and believe in the 'Old Faith'. All three books are steeped in magic and druidic lore, but you don't have to believe in these things yourself to thoroughly enjoy them (I don't, and I loved these books!): this is basically a fairy tale for adults!

Book 2, Son of Shadows, is by far the most romantic part of the series. It is descriptive and engaging, gripping you from the start and making you fall in love with its caracters.

To enjoy this triology best, start with the first book and don't read any other books until you get to the last page of the third. That way, you get the best from Juliet's intricate and fascinating tale!

A great second novel in a gripping trilogy4
Following on from Daughters of the Forest, this book follows the daughter of Sorcha and Hugh, Liaden. The style is similar to book one, but it could still be read as a stand alone novel. Liadan is a healer like her mother and ends up being kidnapped by a band of outlaws so she can use her skills to help heal its members.

She ends up falling in love with "The Chief" and he for her against all odds in a Romeo and Juliet fashion. They struggle to keep their love against many obstacles, their main enemy being Liadan's suitor Eamon.

This is another gripping and well told tale that leaves the reader wanting more. There are again some loose ends to tie up, including Liadan's sister Niamh who fell in love with her uncle not knowing they were related. I look forward to reading the last in the series.

Five Stars and More!!!!!5
I was blown away by Daughter of the Forest and was concerned that Son of the Shadows would leave me disappointed. I needn't have worried!! The second instalment of the Sevenwaters trilogy was just as beautiful as the first with a love story that will have you sobbing your heart out!

Juliet Marillier is most definitely my favourite author and would recommend all of her books to anyone
