Excellent Older Teen Fiction5
I love 'This Lullaby'! It's the book which first got me started on Sarah Dessen, an amazing teen author, and I probably read it about once a year. It never gets old. The story is perfect, Remy-like all Dessen's heroines- is a very 'true' character. The book is typical Dessen in it's 'life lessons' style however, when comapred to her others, it's probably aimed at slightly older teens and is more accesible for a 19/20 year old than, say, 'Last Chance'.

Amazing, a real gem that you won't regret reading!

not amazing, but worth reading4
The main thing I liked about the book was the deep characterisation and development of the complex and very interesting protagonist, Remy, who I found easy to relate to on more than one level. I fell in love with Dexter from the word go; he was so funny and realistic.

However, the plot itself was admittedly pretty non-existent. The plot twists were predictable, and, while the rather simplistic nature of the dialogue and descriptive language was charming at times, on a whole, I felt Dessen's writing was lacklustre, giving the novel an altogether unpolished feel.

But, no novel's perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was, and if you like a nice feel-good teen romance to dig into, I'm sure you'll find just what you're looking for in 'This Lullaby'.

I'd recommend it to teenage girls aged 13-16.

Really good5
I loved This Lullaby from start to finish. Though I found Remy a little too aggresive at times, it's so easy to relate to her because Sarah Dessen paints such an amazing picture about her life. You're not just reading about her present situation with Dexter but about her past as well, about her dad etc and that's a part of the book that I really enjoyed.
Dexter is such an adorable character and you instantly love him to bits. It's such a good love story and I really recommend it to anyone, though I'd say it was probably a bit more of a girl's book.
Honestly, a fantastic read, especially if you like love stories.
