About the Author
Sarah Goodall was born in 1964. In 1988, she was employed as a Lady Clerk at St James's Palace and received her mvo in 1999. She left the Palace in December 2000 and now works as a freelance secretary. Nicholas Monson was born in 1955. Author of The Nouveaux Pauvres, he has written for Tatler and Harpers & Queen, and most British newspapers, including the Sunday Telegraph and the Daily Mail. He lives in London.

Don't bother with this
Don't bother to buy this unless you like very bad writing, a woman who is so 'into' herself and delights in filthy descriptions of her sex life. Most of her working life with the Royal Household seems to have been spent 'adoring' the Prince of Wales. I tired of the word "Wonderful!" it is so over-used. There are no character descriptions of the royal family at all and the Princess of Wales (the "Bossette") is not highly regarded with her life and loves being dragged through the usual muck with no mention being made of her good works. I'd leave this book on the shelf.

Entertaining, honest and informative
Gives an insight how it is to work in the lower ranks among the staff in the royal household. Sarah Goodall's account is very honest and she has a very remarkable self-knowledge for one of her age.

Highly recommended, although admittedly a very light read.

hmm, who told this girl she could write?
I know the book was 'co-written' (cough cough), but honestly, you can tell by the photos of her, the woman is as thick as a brick. Lady Clerk clearly means 'typist'. So she got to make up the numbers at a few dinner parties, so she got a tour of Highgrove Gardens, but honestly, unless you are really, really keen on learning about the details of Prince Charles' life, this book is such a waste of paper.
