funny,romantic,inventive and unpredictable
Mr Deeds was great entertainment:it was really funny, romantic, inventive
and unpredictable. This is the best Adam Sandler film I have seen and is a good comedy film even by the standards of other comedy actors like Bill Murray or Steve Martin. There are lots of extra sections on the dvd including a video of the pop star Dave Thomas singing, and previews of other Adam Sandler projects.Worth buying.
Hilarious
Mr. Deeds is Adam Sandler's funniest film since Happy Gilmore! I loved it. If you are looking fora laugh with some sad bits and included i recommend this film to you!!!! This film is much better that the 1936 original and it has a much better cast. If you don't like stupid humour then this is not the film for you but if you are a Sandler fan then you are in for one funny night.
Good Deeds
I am generally a fan of Adam Sandler so this review may not help those who don't like him. I also haven't seen the original so this is a completely independent review.
I really like this film. It has a fairly good story line and a twist at the end. Adam Sandler isn't his usual repressed anger character although it does make brief appearances. I has all the usual Sandler film actors aswell as some new, such as Ryder and Buscemi. Buscemi only plays a cameo role as 'crazy eyes' but he always brings comedy. Ryder brings the love interest in the form of 'Babe Bennett' and 'Pam Dawson'. She brings something new to this film relatively unseen in other Sandler movies. She has the looks and the intelligence to be more than a 2D character.
Sandler is effective as 'Longfellow Deeds' and actually shows some of his acting potential by playing a slightly different character. The film is howver dominated by John Turturro who plays 'Emilio', Deeds' servant.
This film is enjoyable for even those who aren't an Adam Sandler fan.
