A singer to look out for!
New York singer-songwriter Maya Azucena releases a fresh & vibrant sounding album titled Junkyard Jewel.
With the majority of songs written in collaboration with the guitarist on the album, Christian Ver Halen, every track on this CD has an uplifting quality that can be (& should be) played again and again.
With a voice that has a classic-soul sounding style, but that is a definite voice for the future. Although every track is impressive, there are notable highlights: "Hallelujah", "Down-Down", "Set You Free", "Warriors", "G-Hetto" and the title track.
A highly impressive acoustic-soul style album from a vocalist with an excellent voice. One of the CDs of 2007.
