Customer Reviews
Excellent value; excellent book
This is an excellent reference book.
The use and meanings of each of the Italian tenses are explained at the beginning of the book, with examples.
Each of the 555 verbs is listed in alphabetical order, with a whole page (i.e. one side) each, with the verb clearly conjugated in, full, as promised. Below the conjugation are examples of usage, with idioms and related words where relevant. 50 of the most common verbs (often the most irregular and/or most idiomatic) have a second page devoted to examples.
Following the verbs are some exercises with answers to aid learning.
Finally, there is not one, but three indices: an English to Italian verbs index; an index of irregular Italian verb forms, which is incredibly useful if you come across a verb form and you can't work out which verb it is; and an Italian (to English) verb index, listing over 2,700 more verbs cross referenced to one of the fully conjugated verbs.
What more you could ask for in a book of verbs is beyond me, and it's a steal at six quid!
practice makes perfect
Excellent work book. With regular practice, the learning of the (highly complicated) Italian verbs becomes easier...not easy, but it most certainly helps. Repeating the exercises again and again, can only improve the knowledge and use of the verb tenses.
Invaluable
As a beginner in learning Italian, and with a very poor memory, I have found this book absolutely invaluable as a rapid source of information and a great aid to learning.
I haven't really used the CD yet but will do so now that my Italian has reached to stage of using more than the present tense!
Great!
