Microsoft have done it at last
I have only started this book and I thoroughly enjoy. It is simple to read and easy to understand. The only downside is that, unlike the XP certification book which came with an evaluation CD. This one does not. Hoever, you can download an enterprise version of Windows 7 from the Microsoft website. I believe the trial version is available for 90 days.

With regards to hardware, make sure you have a good PC with at least 3GB of memory. You can also download VMware server for free for the virtualization or Microsoft Virtual PC.

Going back to the book, it will be seen if it is a good book if I pass the exam but early indication shows that it should be. The book is concise and to the point.

Excellent
After working through the first five chapters I think I can safely say that this book is excellently written and easy to understand. I have read a few MS press books previously that sometimes got me annoyed as the authors seemed to go off with some long winded guff that was neither relevant or necessary, but five chapters in and this book has yet to do that.

I have managed to answer all practice questions correctly at the end of each lesson and chapter after reading each chapter only once (a first for me!) so they must be doing something right!!

Of course the proof will be when I take the MS exam but signs are looking good if the practice questions are anything to go by.

Highly recommended if you're thinking about taking the 70-680 exam.

Clear and Concise
On a quick run through this seems to be a comprehensive training kit.

The only catch is you need either 2 machines with Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise on a network or a virtual machine installed. I didn't realise this and didn't have the extra kit at home to do all that is required. My last training was on XP so this was a bit of an eye-opener.

A worthwhile buy.
