Customer Reviews
Great photography - mediocre content
It was with great anticipation that I received this book. I had ordered it before its publishing date, and then received several emails from Amazon that there were delays. When it eventually arrived at my doorstep, I was delighted! I had heard and read so much about the contributing photographers (it's the good and great of US wedding photography) that I thought it must be absolutely fantastic.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed. While the pictures are great and inspiring, the content is put together in such a way that it's really hard to learn anything from this book. Each chapter (the book is categorised into the different stages of a wedding) describes the approaches of different wedding photographers to these stages. So, it jumps from photographer to photographer. Sometimes there's a little titbit of info to take away... but mostly it reads like an account of how great the photographer is, and how unique his/her style.
This book actually had me puzzled if I'm not in the right target market. But the trouble is, I cannot think who would be in the target market, if not me. I'm a relative beginner and hoping to learn more about wedding photography.
To be honest, the only reason I'm giving this book three stars (and not less) is, that I like the pictures. And I haven't given up on learning something from it yet. Even if it proves to be hard work!
Some good pictures and explanations
As someone who operates more towards the low-medium range of weddings I found this book sometimes (as with many other books), out of step with my scope. Having said that, it does inspire and there are some good ideas for how to step up your simple photography.
Awesome book, good delivery turnaround
This book is excellent. Current, inspirational and educational at the same time. The print quality is good and the images selected for the book are excellent. Overall I am very pleased with the product.
