This is a Kick A** Book... or just A** obsessed...
Erotic Romance with... Bondage, mild force, coercion, slavery, more bondage, spanking, menage a trios and lots and lots of the other end.
Oddly, although there is more sex than the average Erotic Romance (every page at least it felt that way) there is also a very compelling story line too.
Victoria Stark is an Imperial Navigaations Pilot, thrown off her last assignment for saving the sentient battle ship from mercenaries when her commanding officers had abandoned ship, abandoned on a distant space station she finds herself shang-hi'd into the service of Captain Ravnos, of the mercenary dreadnaught Hellsbreath.
Victorious Star, as Victoria is known by ships and commanders alike, is legendary for saving her ships by sacrificing her commanding officers. This time though the price for saving Arcane, a captured Imperial Dreadnaught won't be her commanding officer.
"I've read a lot of erotic romance over the years, yet Victorious Star is the one book I keep rereading over and over again. It's blazingly hot and not for the easily offended, yet it's also hypnotic in its intensity and emtional power. Morgan Hawke is one of the best writers of erotic fiction I have ever known, and I'm convinced she is headed for stardom in the new genre" Angela Knight (Mercenaries, Master of Wolves etc. etc.)
Not one for the faint hearted
Imperial Officer and Nav-pilot Victoria Stark (aka the Victorious Star) is famous amongst the sentient ships which travel space; renowned for her almost ruthless determination in placing a ship's survival before the lives of its crew. Yet when she rescues "The Adamant" from a mercenary dreadnought "Hellsbreath" she is rewarded with immediate reassignment, dumped on an isolated space station and stuck for possibly months until transport arrives. Outside the secure reach of the Imperium, she finds herself "pressed" for service by Aubrey Ravnos, the captain of the "Hellsbreath", after she accidentally kills his own Nav-pilot.
Victoria is soon under the complete sexual domination of Ravnos and his second in command; Seht, a Skeldhi blood prince, but this pair has a further plan for Victoria beyond the use of her body. Learning that they intend to either successfully steal the sentience of "The Arcane" (a legendary battleship rumoured to have killed his entire crew after going insane) or completely destroy it, Victoria agrees to help; however her only chance of boarding "The Arcane" involves becoming Seht's "pet", a genetically altered human slave. With irrevocable changes in her appearance marking her slave status, Victoria risks her career in the Imperium and any chance of ever flying with the ships she loves again.
MH has created a savagely dark and deeply erotic ménage à trois; yet whilst all 3 members do verbally confirm their devotion, there is definitely no hint of romance and certainly few tender moments shared in this three way relationship. Despite this, "Victorious Star" is a highly erotic and excitingly fast paced sci-fi adventure which completely blew me away with its story line and the sex scenes, whilst predominantly BDSM (a genre I tend to steer clear of), were absolutely scorching. I happily award "Victorious Star" 5 stars but warn everyone out there looking for something tender and romantic to avoid this book like the plague. I should also add the multitude of graphic love scenes in this story are definitely not for the faint of heart. In fact I had reservations towards the end of this book as Victoria is left so totally subjugated; her own forceful personality, although not totally under the control of Ravnos and Seht (unlike her body), is certainly cowed by the males in her life. Yes MH does highlight the fact that Victoria is a sexual submissive and enjoys every moment in the hands of her men; unfortunately they remain dominant outside the bedroom as well as in it, which turned me off somewhat.
A very interesting, enjoyable book
This book is not for the faint hearted as it does contain explicit sex scenes between the two men and one women. Well written to the point of not being crude or gaudy but behind those sex scenes lies a very interesting story line which goes very well with what the Author has written.
A story set in space, a proud Heroine Victoria, very unusual Second in Command Seht and a strong Captain Ravnos. How their feelings change towards each other while their lives unfold in this exciting adventure story of plots, intrigued, mystery, sex and love. This is not a story of romance but domination of another.
I bought this book to read, due to the others people reviews and was not disappointed. Looking forward to seeing another story by Morgan Hawke.
