When Florrie Maltby defies her father by refusing to marry Gervase Richards, she sets off a chain of events that will alter her life. Instead she goes to London and becomes involved with the suffragette movement. She’s imprisoned for her militant actions, and goes on hunger strike. With her health deteriorating, there is one person who can save her – Gervase.
After a brief stay in the countryside to recuperate, Florrie returns to London to continue her fight for women’s rights. Only the outbreak of the Great War puts a halt to her activities. It is when James, her younger brother, is shamed by their father into volunteering, that Florrie enlists as a nurse and is sent to the Front. Amidst the fear and horror of the hospital close to the trenches, she finds love. But when her beloved brother is accused of desertion, help comes from a very unexpected source.

book. suffragette girl by Margaret Dickinson
This book is fantastic, one of her best books yet. I cried in quite a few places, but a very enjoyable read
Suffragette Girl by Margaret Dickinson
Having read all of Margaret Dickinson's books, this is another great read.
As with most of Margaret's books, once you start, you do not want to put it
down until its finished. Margaret make her books so interesting because of
the amount of research she puts into them before writing. Although fiction, the
stories contain true facts of places, jobs etc for the period in which she is
writing. She researches most places that she writes about so knows the area.
It is also a joy to read a book that does not contain 'strong language' but you
are still aware of the characters' feelings. Margaret's books can appeal to people of all ages who love a good read. Again another good read from Margaret.
