Product Description

Kitty O'Brien's husband is a drunken thug and in order to feed her starving children she sells her body on the Liverpool docks. Her daughter Lizzie is pregnant by her father and, still weak after her abortion, she kills him. Her mother takes the blame, but Lizzie cannot blot out the painful memories of her childhood. Eventually, with a failed marriage behind her, she finds fame, fortune and friendship in Hollywood - but happiness still escapes her. And so she returns to her roots, and it is her final marriage and its disastrous consequences that, at last, force her to face her past and find the happiness and peace of mind that have always eluded her.

Customer Reviews

Amazing.5
I read this book in two days. I went to bed and it kept going through my mind how great it was and i woke at 4.am to read on. In fact I read it until I finished the book. I had to read lots of it in the bathroom so my family couldn't see me crying. It was fantastic.. I am in the motions of actually ordering Annie...I just cant wait.

very far fetched3
I have read many of Maureen Lee's books and found them extremely gripping and enjoyable. I was a little bit disappointed with 'Stepping Stones'. Although the story was well written I found two of the 'twists' to be completely unbelievable and totally far fetched. This kind of put me off reading to the end. It was still well written but I found myself shouting 'as if that would happen!'

Great story5
A great but sad story,I couldn't put it down, I just so much wanted Lizzie to have peace with herself
