THE book on home brewing
I bought this book as a first edition in 1990 and with it made the jump to full grain brewing that year. 18 years later it is still THE definitve book on the subject. The first edition was great, the subsequent edition better still. I bought mine for £4.99, and no, I won't be selling it, even at the prices it fetches today. If you are interested in brewing and ever get a chance to buy a copy, do so. The only other book you might want would be a recipe book like Brew Your Own Real Ale At Home, by the same author - this one has all the information on brewing that you'll need.
Bible for homebrewing
A great book on home brewing, covering pretty much everything you need to know from brewing with kits to full mash brewing and from lager to real ale. It is well written with plenty of wit and interesting facts and anecdotes about the history of beer and ale. It also does a fantastic job of separating the facts from the old wives tales. The only home brewing book you need!

I have used this book for over a year since starting brewing and moving from kit to grain brewing. It may lack enough basic information for people starting out but as you progress you will find it an excellent reference book. It has a few flaws such as no chapter page list and several key areas of brewing are ignored but having brought and read most of the books available I have to say it is the one I would recommend if you are to buy one book on the subject.
In his other two books he repeats many sections of this book word for word meaning that if you buy this one why buy the others?
