Really good4
First - when you buy a PSP, you MUST buy a memory stick to go with it. Sony selling the console without one is like selling a car without tyres.

The PSP is what it says - slim and light. The controls feel nice to the touch and the screen is excellent. The sound via the built is speakers is very tinny. Through decent headphones - it's fine.

I bought mine after buying the Play TV module for my PS3. Using 'remote play' this works really well allowing you to stream video from the PS3 to PSP via your wireless network. You can stream direct from the PS3 to the PSP but you need to be in the same room to get a reliable connection which seems to defeat the point. You can also stream from your PSP through the Internet, but I found that the remote switch off didn't always work. Imagine taking the PSP on holiday to link up to your PS3 and returing home to find the console had been switched on for a fortnight!

The games are either PS One or specific to PSP. If you buy a PS One game you can download it to both the PSP and PS3 and play it on both.

A built in Skype phone, Internet radio, Internet browser, photo viewer and more all add to the fun.

One gripe - the power cord for recharging is way too short.

The "bright" PSP...a bright idea!5
There are very few new features in this as compared to the previous one: A built-in mic and a better screen.
Otherwise, this is exactly identical in terms of technical specifications to the older generation PSP

Built-in mic means two things:
a) you can skype (also built-in!) etc. any time
b) You can use regular headphones and don't need to buy the special PSP-headset anymore.

There was some concerns about the 'interlacing' lines on the screen and youtube is full of videos that highlight this....and say this is bad and so on.
This is so not true!
To be honest, during regular gameplay you won't even notice the lines...I only noticed them a few times when I was specifically looking for them and not concentrating on the game.

The screen is a lot brighter and colors richer (I compared with my roomie's..he has the old one)

If you are wondering if you should buy this PSP, the choice is really very simple:

1. If you already have a PSP-2000 (a.k.a. Slim&Lite) then you don't really need to, because this isn't much of an upgrade except for the built-in Mic and brighter screen.

2. If you don't have a PSP yet and looking to get one for the first time, this is the one to get!

Don't Believe Everything You Hear, Worth Every Penny5
The PSP 3000 is by far good unlike the psp go
which claims "why carry UMD's around when you can have them on your console"

how big are UMD's? well I know hoe big a pocket is and a guess you can carry 1 game in the psp and another couple in your pocket.

Any way back to the psp 3000, I am going to name 10 key points about the psp 3000 5 positive and 5 negative to give a even view and not a un-fair one.

1.The Console Is lightweight, which makes it easy to put in nearly all pockets ( unlike the old psp 1000)

2. You get a built in microphone

3.quicker loading for games

4. Better backlight for the psp 3000

5. Better analogue stick than the previous psps

Negative Points:

1.Some pretty distressing news on the Sony handheld front: We've gotten wind of reports that the new PSP-3000 handhelds have some interlacing issues. Some scanlines not seen on the Slim have also been spotted on the PSP-3000's screen.

Some members on the U.S. PlayStation forums have said that the interlacing issues become really noticeable when fast-moving objects are on-screen.

2. It is still to expensive for the psp, Sony still need to reduce the price buy £40 to persuade people to buy then rather than a Nintendo DSI

3.Another backward step made by Sony as the new psp still have dead pixels, the average dead pixels ratio on average is between 5-7 for the new psp.

4. I have seen on M.Whitehead's review on a psp 3000

Sony PSP 3000 Series Slim and Lite Handheld Console (Black) with FIFA 09 (PSP)

And he said and I quote

"Google 'psp 3000 interlace' if you don't believe me and see how many unhappy people there are out there"

I did and by God was he right, so many people have been complaining that the psp having this problem.

So check for your self to prove M.Whitehead isn't lying.

5. Another key factor about the psp 3000 is it's flimsiness compared to the original psp, this psp is more prone to breaking as it is so small and thin (I am not saying you could break it with 2 fingers just that because it doesn't have a fat back it isn't as strong that is all)

Overall my rating still is 5/5 * because I have not had a problem with scan lines or the screen ( I am guessing they have fixed this with the new psp consoles )
