Reverend Percival Peabody is a well meaning, innocent, long-suffering, accident prone vicar rapidly approaching a mid life crisis and he has the unenviable task of tending to his wayward parish of Lower South-Borough. Any semblance of order falls by the wayside as his fondness for the quintessential pastime of bowling continually disrupts his well balanced life with hilarious results. Set against the backdrop of the village bowls club during a summer season, his patience, virtue and tolerance are tested to the limit by the rebellious members. It will take more than an Act of God to thwart the villagers' mischief making but he is determined to save their failing virtue. Percy also owns a rather disturbed moggie which is always in the wrong place at the wrong time as he struggles to maintain his rapidly deteriorating sanity. Beyond any saving grace, Rollo the vicarage cat carves a path of wilful destruction at every opportunity, wreaking havoc to all of Percy's best laid plans.

Good Old Fashioned Humour - A Must Read
If you like the comedy series 'Vicar of Dibley' you will love this heart warming book by Paul Hammond. Full of good old fashioned humour it will have you chuckling in no time at the antics its characters get up to. Just what the doctor ordered to give a lift in these depressing times!
Bowls Clubs Captured
This book is hilarious and captures all the habits and characteristics of bowlers. You may not find all of them in your Club but I'm sure that they all appear as you move arround the Clubs. As you play you suddenly find a moment and think thats just like ? in the book.
Any member of any club will be able to sympathise with the chartacters.
Enjoyable
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Living in a village and as my late husband was a bowler, I can identify with some of these characters. The comic antics and old fashioned humour is entertaining.
