The new "Bible" of kites and kite flying.
For years I've been told that the 'Penguin book of kites" by David Pelham is the bible for all kite flyers, and indead it is an excellent book and deserved the praise. But now I feel that this has taken it's place, certainly it's fully up to date with the many aspects that kite flying has taken on in the past 20 years, and treats the reader with an excelent approach and style that makes it a joy to read. The many drawings and pictures enhance the book turning it into a referance book par excellance, and then the plans give you the insight to see the designs and structures of modern kiteing. A couple of my kites come from these pages, and I am delighted with the detail that they provided, down to the desciption of what knot and how to tie it! But thats not all, the appendices are full of details of where you can go next, The festivals, Clubs, and much more. If you think your into kites, get this book and learn everything of this facinating hobby.
A marvellous book! Truly comprehensive and up-to-date
Ron Moulton has presents an all-encompassing accountof this absorbing hobby in his book, and it is already regarded as a classic. His coverage of the various topics, from making kites, to kite photography is comprehensive and well thought out, and his words are supported by Pat Lloyd's wonderfully clear and well-presented drawings. There are good photographs as well, and the whole project hangs together remarkably well. I thoroughly recommend this book.
Great resource
Previous reviews of this book say it all but I especially enjoyed the chapter on paradrops and parafauna - one of the few resources available. This shows the diversity of the book itself. The plans are clear, the colour images inspirational and the book on the whole is pleasure to read. I have had this book for years and still get enjoyment thumbing through it. Covered: Making your own, Single line & steerable kites, loads of plans, tips on sewing, air law and a load more. Thoroughly recommended.
