A great guide
A very useful guide, complete with details of historic properties, including gardens, opening times, directions etc. This is a must-have if you're interested in visiting historic houses and their gardens. It covers not just National Trust, but Historic Houses Association, English Heritage, and a wide variety of other independent properties. Good for planning and full of colour photographs to inspire you.

Open all hours
Just a couple of lines to let you know that, over the eight or so years that I have been purchasing this annually updated guide to the opening times and treasures of our historic monuments, I have never turned up at a stately pile to find the gates locked and the tea shop closed. For me, at any rate, it has all that I need to plan a day out - great for holiday trips, great for local jaunts and great for sending visitors off while I get a few hours gardening done.
