Synopsis
From Pocket Mountains, publisher of Scotland's bestselling cycling and walking guides, comes an exhilarating introduction to cycling in the majestic Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Following on from Bike Scotland Book One, the essential guide to cycling routes in Central Scotland, this collection features 40 classic rides, from easy loops that all the family can enjoy to epic multi-day road trips and mountain biking adventures. Areas covered include Argyll from Islay to Oban; the West Highlands from Glencoe and Fort William to Ardnamurchan, Arisaig and Mull; around Inverness and the Cairngorms; Western Ross and the Northern Highlands to Cape Wrath and John O'Groats; and Skye, Eigg and the Outer Hebrides.
Customer Reviews
Excellent guide
I found this book very useful, ended up doing cycles especially on Islay. The guide chooses the best routes with enough info to easily plan the day's cycling. Great presentation and the small format made it the perfect guide for this trip.

Continuing the great "Pocket Mountain" range
Both Books in this series are highly recommended. They describe a range of routes for differing abilities, clearly indicating when a mountain bike is needed, and pointing out any potential problems en route (such as rivers when in spate). The format follows the outstanding Pocket Mountain series for walkers (I own them all!) with clear maps, and points of interest on the route. I also like the fact that the route notes appear to be very up-to-date. Putting all of this into a handy pocket sized book makes it indispensable - just remember your OS or Harvey maps as well.
