Product Description

In today's hectic society, it is often only on the weekends that we really have time to 'cook', rather than just assembling meals to keep our energy levels up. In this brilliant new book, best-selling author Ruth Watson has created a fantastic collection of delicious yet stress-free recipes that enable us to enjoy the process of cooking and creating mouth-watering dishes with which to delight and impress family and friends. Ensuring that the cook will not spend endless hours trapped in the kitchen, all the recipes can be prepared in advance or cooked to a stage where they need only minimal attention at the last minute. All the components of the meal are covered from simple, no-cook starters such as deli-griddled vegetables with hummus, or prawn cocktail; straightforward, yet delicious, one-pot dishes including Catalan beef stew and lamb with haricot beans, or traditional big roast dinners from the classic sirloin of beef to pancetta-wrapped pork fillet; 'footless' food with sensational fish and vegetarian dishes such as mozzarella, ricotta and spinach lasagne and red gunard bourride; mouth-watering desserts such as bitter chocolate tart, and hazelnut meringues; and blackberry cake. "Something for the Weekend" takes the hassle out of cooking for a crowd so start sending out the invitations today!

Fab food 5
This book really does what it says on the tin -great recipes that give you time to prepare ahead and enjoy pre dinner drinks with your guests.

Clear instructions, beautiful illustrations, delicious results -perfect!

The cookery book I've been waiting for5
I bought Ruth Watson's last book and really liked it. This latest one is full of recipes for 8 people which is fabulous as I really like entertaining and they're exactly the kind of food my friends and family like eating. I made the lemon tart and the roast lamb on Sunday and they were both fantastic. They are also clearly written and explained. I like starters so was slightly disappointed that all the recipes in this chapter are for delicatessan type food, but they're useful if you haven't got time to cook a whole 3 course meal. I also like the humour Ruth Watson brings to the book. It's a good read too.

Fabulously useful book5
At last someone has written a book that means I do not have to spend all day in the kitchen while everyone else enjoys themselves. Unlike most chef's cookbooks this one has recipes that even a modest cook like me can follow and carry out successfully. Ruth Watson's style of writing is humorous and never dull. I can think of at least five family and friends who will be getting this book for Christmas - they really need it.
