Fascinating History of Names and of London
This book was originally published about 50 years ago, so it not only talks about why streets have the names they do, but also gives us a look at post-WWII London. While reading it, you really feel as if you are traveling the boroughs as the authors are. I read the book just prior to a recent trip to London and it was very helpful in explaining the names. I often walk around London and wonder where the street names come from. If you enjoy London and are interested in the history of names, this is definitely worth a read.
