Customer Reviews
great read!
Having just read this book cover to cover, I'm surprised it doesn't have a review! Most Chanel books focus on her character, but this one charts her fashion story from her first attempts at millinery, through the following decades to her last collection.
The focus in this book is definetely her collections, with comments about inspirations and fashion of the time. Every double page has images, fashion plates, or photographs of clothing, with clear detail. Early photos in black & white, later ones in colour.
The book was first published in 1994, so the book ends with images & info. on Karl Largerfelds reign at the Chanel house.
A fantastic read for any Chanel, couture or fashion reader interested in the changing shape of fashion, especially in the 1920s. The book gives an excellent overview of her / collections as head of one of the most important fashion houses in history.
