CD Description
The importance of reggae producer and sound system impresario Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd in the history of Jamaican music cannot be overstated. Dodd was a significant force in thecareers of many of Jamaica's best-selling artists, including Bob Marley & the Wailers, Toots & the Maytals, Ken Boothe, and the Heptones, and also gave reggae legend Lee "Scratch"Perry his first start in music. This overview of some of Dodd's vintage Studio One output spans the high-flying harmonies of the Cables, whose "Baby Why" typifies the producer's approach of combining gorgeously melodic vocals with irresistibly danceable rhythm tracks, the Heptones' similarly beguiling "Party Time", and more rootsy offerings from the Gladiators and Judah Tafari Eskender.

Best of studio one vol 1 5
memory lane came rushing back, did your parents have late night three day parties, that when finished the wall paper was left slighty faded, and the party guests were a mashed version of the visions that arrived to the party a few days previous! well if you forgot those memorys seat belt on as this album has a crash course just to remind you, people, step away from the wall paper!!

The Greatest Music Ever Produced5
Studio One was reggae's greatest label and this compliation along with Vol 2. contains some of its best ever tracks. Songs like Just Another Girl, Born to Love and Roots Natty are so beautiful and they can never be matched.

In my humble opinion Vol 1 and 2 are the greatest reggae compliations ever released.

Can't wait for the reissue of Bobby Bobbylon by Freddie McGregor!!
