In Wales during the troubled decade of the 1960s, men and women attempted to turn their dream of freedom into reality.
For the first time since the days of Owain Glyndwr, armed Welshmen stood beneath the ancient flag of their forefathers and challenged England's rule...
This highly acclaimed book, which the authorities tried to ban, is now published with a new foreword by Sian Dalis Cayo-Evans, and new revealing photographs from the height of the troubles.

On the 1st of July, 1969, beneath louring grey skies a glittering ceremony took place in the Upper Ward of the ancient Castle of Caernarfon. Surrounded dy dignitaries, courtiers, choirs and all the gorgeous panoply of antique ritual the eldest son of the Queen of England knelt before his mother, and placing his hands between hers, vowed,
"I, Charles, Prince of Wales, do become your liegeman of life and limb and of earthly worship, and faith and truth I will bear unto you to live and die against all manner of folks..."

Powerful Stuff!
An exeptional book and a brilliant read. This book cronicles the underestimated contribution from Wales to guerrilla warfare and revolution. Chapters about the legendary Treweryn incident (A village was drowned to fulfil Liverpool's demands for Water although all MPs in Wales bar one were against the drowning) and of course the pompus investiture of Prince Charles os Prince of Wales and all the other incidents that occured in the turbulent sixties in Wales.
I feel that the Free Wales Army had to much of the lime light in this book. The real hero was John Jenkins and MAC. However, it is well written remarkable true story. How things have changed!
Narrative, brief biographies and quotes from the protagonists
Easy to read narrative of the events surrounding the formation of, and actions carried out by, Welsh nationalist groupings, including the MAC and the Free Wales Army from about 1963 to 1969. Not much analysis of the politics behind the campaign. Some good b/w pictures.
The most important cultural work for decades!
This is a unique cultural artefact, charting the efforts of Welsh freedom fighters in the 1960's and 1970's who were desperate to save their language and way of life. Written with a vivid lucidity by Roy Clews, this book takes the reader on a journey of awakening through one of the UK Government's best kept secret. Originally banned by the English government and now reprinted by Y Lolfa, read this book and discover the truth behind the joke 'Buy a holiday home in Wales, and come home to a real fire.'
