Manufacturer's Description
Untitled Document Radio-controlled clock
Radio-controlled clock automatically synchronises with the local radio broadcast's standard time so you don't ever need to worry about checking for accuracy or making adjustments. Accurate time without latency is ensured daily or while the clock's power is on. Rest assured you'll always be punctual for every appointment!

Digital tuning with presets

Gentle Wake
Start your day right by waking up gently to a gradually escalating alarm volume. Normal alarm sounds with a preset volume are either too low to wake you up or are so uncomfortably loud that you are rudely jolted awake. Choose to wake up to your favourite music, radio station or buzzer alarm. Gentle wake's alarm volume gradually increases from subtly low to reasonably high in order to gently rouse you.

Large backlit LCD display

    It's OK3
It's not a bad product in general and I'm reasonably happy with it. It looks great and the weather and clock functions are accurate enough for me. I placed my weather sensor outdoors facing North to get a better reading in general and with this was able to "rotate" (in unit application) the readings to get a constant more accurate output on indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity. The negatives for me are (hence the 3 star) the need to unplug the unit from the mains to turn off the weather indicator (little light top left corner that indicates by colour code the weather type ie sunny, rainy, snow etc). If the unit is plugged in this is constantly on and is so bright it lights up a dark room. In this instance you need battery power which then turns this light off, unless there is an update to the system which is very annoying to light sleepers. The other annoyance is the amount of buttons and controls needed to make any changes to the unit. Persnonally I wouldn't buy the unit again unless Philips makes some changes to their next model but for the time being it will do.

Woken up every 15 minutes with weather forecast2

The radio controlled clock is good and the radio has a nice sound quality for the size of the case. Weather forecast is of dubious use: temperature is OK (and works with the remote sensor) but notice that the measurement of humidity is only internal. So the device reports that it is likely to rain after you have had a bath or boiled some pasta nearby, despite cloudless skies! I didn't find it accurate at all.

This would be bearable, but what made the device unusable for me is that every 15 minutes it updates the assessment of weather and shines a very bright LED for 15 seconds to let you know (blue for rain, yellow for sun). This goes on all the way through the night and I couldn't find any way to stop it.

If you are at all sensitive to light when sleeping, I recommend you avoid this clock radio. A surprising number of modern clock radios seem to fail this test, many having too bright/unswitchable LCD backlights --- this model doesn't have that problem so the LED weather torchlight was a real disappointment.

    great little gadget4
This clock/radio is amazing. It looks great & the time is radio-controlled so is always right. The outdoor temperature is useful & the weather forecast is surprisingly accurate. The radio sound is quite good and the display is big and bright but we had to put a piece of wood under it to make it stand upright - at an angle we could not read it in bed. The price at Amazon is good too - Philips online shop sell it at £49.99!The downside is that it can not have a battery backup so in the event of power cuts you will lose your settings. Overall it is a great little gadget but a pity about the battery back-up.
