Customer Reviews

I always take a Lonely Planet Guide with me...4
...as always, I'm not disappointed with my purchase. These books are always very useful when you are looking for places to stay, places to eat and for travel information between cities. I'm glad I waited for the new edition too as I got all up to date information.

Basic Information, Limited Usefulness3
I purchased this book based on the fact that it had the highest rating of any other Croatian guide book. Unfortunately, I was not entirely satisfied and found that while the historical content and city maps were helpful, the author's opinions and reccommendations were disapointing and often incorrect. For instance, Hvar Town was hailed for fantastic nightlife and Korcula was said to be a quiet family destination; the truth was the exact opposite but we learned this too late and it had a negative impact on our holiday. Additionally, there was no information on etiquitte, tipping, dress code, etc. which would have been very helpful. Nonetheless, the sleeping and eating recommendations were very good but sadly I felt that the day trip locations left much to be desired.

Excellent Book5
This was a very usefull book for us. We didn't know much about the history or the country before we went, but now we do! There is some really great background information in the book for in-flight reading. There is loads of useful info about most places, some great restaurant reccommendations and I particularly liked the walking tour of Split. We would have been lost without it. I think it was a lucky choice, but I've since compared some of the others and this seems to be the best by far. It made our holiday very enjoyable.
