Editorial Reviews
Review
"A very accessible introduction to Islam from a faith-based perspective. The book not only manages to introduce the reader to the history and doctrines of Islam but also sheds light on contemporary issues and debates."
(Dr Oliver Scharbrodt, Lecturer in the Religions of the Middle East SOAS )

Introduction to Islam
The author of this book treats the reader in a very intelligent and respectful manner. It is an excellent, comprehensive source of information for those wishing to learn more about Islam, from complete novices to those actually wishing to enhance their existing basic knowledge.
As a Muslim myself, never once was I made to feel that I was being patronised for having limited knowledge about my religion. The style adopted is very simplistic and yet an incredible amount of information is delivered in a fashion that makes the reader want to continue reading until the very end.
There exist no airs and graces and not a hint of fundamentalism which is all too often wrongly associated with this faith.
At times a very delicate twist of humour is woven in to the book just to remind the reader that the work is written by a person and not just a descriptive piece of facts and figures that could be churned out by a machine.
The author's gentleness and depth of character also appears to materialise as one works though this book. There seems to exist a genuine love for the reader and a desire to put across all the necessary information but in a way that allows the reader to discover the faith and at the same time forms his/her own opinions about Islam.
Such was its overall effect that it leaves the reader thirsty for more of an insight into this author's wonderful literature.
A thoroughly good read!
Easy to read and understand. Fascinating.
This is a perfect introduction to Islam. Always interesting and easy to understand even for someone with a limited attention span such as me!
A good place to start
An interesting insight into Islam. For someone who didn't know a thing before I read the book, I now have a better appreciation of the Muslim faith
