This is the juicer I own. It's compact and is good if you're juicing for one (or two with small glasses!).

Amazon.co.uk Review
The Kenwood JE550 Centrifugal Juicer is an inexpensive way to get fresh fruit and vegetable juice in just a few seconds. Its compact size means it'll stand unobtrusively on the kitchen worktop and save valuable space when not in use.

Operation is simple--cut your fruit or vegetables small enough to fit in the hopper on top and select slow speed (for soft food) or fast speed (for hard food). Use quality produce and in a minute or so, three oranges and two grapefruit will fill the half litre juice jug with delicious juice that's far superior to the long life or even bottled fresh variety. A specially designed lid keeps the juice foam from tipping into your glass but if you're partial to it, simply remove the lid. Cleaning takes a while, but the juice makes it worth the effort.

A citrus press such as the Russell Hobbs Citrus Press is a more efficient way to process oranges and grapefruit, needing no fruit peeling, producing more juice, and requiring less cleaning. However, for those with a taste for vegetable juices as well as the sweet tang of citrus, the JE550 would be the perfect compromise. Just don't mix them together--Kenwood's manual warns about the explosive digestive effect of fruit and vegetable cocktails. --Mark Gilbert

Manufacturer's Description
With more of us wanting the healthy life style and healthier living to go with it, Kenwood have developed this Centrifugal Juicer. You simply turn it on, put the fruit in the top; it then extracts the juice into a juice jug (included), and ejects the pulp into a separate container at the back. There are 2 speeds for both soft and hard fruit, and there is a safely interlock to prevent children and adults from harm. It is also very compact so it will not take up too much of that valuable work space.

Okay for occasional use2
Buy this juicer if you're new to juicing and want to see if you like the end result. Then give it away to a friend in the same position and invest in a heavy-duty model for yourself. Plus points: it extracts a lot of juice, leaves a dry pulp and the clear plastic parts rinse clean. The bad news: it's a long and fiddly job to get the pulp out of the lid because there are so many awkward nooks and crannies, and it's generally messy. Even with the lid locked down securely it sprays fine carrot pulp from gaps that should be a tight seal. (And I don't mean from the feeder chute end, either.) A lot of work for the juice/pulp capacity - if you want more than a glass a day, you'll be forever cleaning it. Good for taking to the office or on holiday for occasional use, though.

Good "single person" juicer4
Compact, easy to use, easy to clean, relatively small capacity but fine for one. Seemed pretty efficient at extracting juice from carrots and pears. In my experience, juicers always work better with harder fruits, not ripe mushy ones. This model is no exception. Motor laboured at setting "1" but no problems at setting "2". I have used a much larger capacity friend's juicer, but the amount of work to clean it meant it lay expensively unused most of the time. I hope to use the Kenwood at least a couple of times per week.

Good value for money for occasional use2
I have owned one of these for about 6 months and found it performed well for the price (the 2-speed options in particular).
Unfortunately it doesn't really cope well with anything really tough such as some of the skins which my juice book says you should leave on. This was frustrating as you had to either throw away the best part of some fruit or take it apart each time it stalled (as instructed in the manual). I didn't have the patience to do this and after 6 months of near-daily use the motor burnt out whilst attempting to juice unpeeled organic pineapple. I am shopping for a more expensive juicer now as I'm sure you do get what you pay for and I now know I will want to use it every day.
