Loving the Juicing
I spent a few weeks deliberating on whether to buy a dedicated juicer or this attachment for the Kenwood. Generally, I have a preference to having attachments to the powerful Kenwood rather than having lots of different machines cluttering up my work surfaces which have weedy power. However, unlike this attachment some of the juicers on the market can take whole unchopped fruit such as apples which seemed time saving. And I was put off by the previous (and sole) review.
The best juicer (for me) I found in the shops was the Breville one which costs £250, the other less expensive ones including the Phillips did not have the same build qulity. So in the end, I decided to try this much more affordable Kenwood attachment thinking once I knew if juicing was for me, I could sell it on and upgrade to the Breville..
..What a fantastic surprise!
The attachment juices really well and really fast. And this is on the Kenwood's speed 1 as recommended in the attachment's instructions. So it's not noisy compared to say using your Kenwood to whisk at high speeds. You put fruit and veg in the chute and there are two funnels which drop into (your own) separate containers. One for juice, one for pulp. This I think is a big plus over a dedicated juicer. As it says on the box, the attachment is 'non stop'. You can juice for as few or many people as you like in one go. No need to empty/clean an in-built pulp container or juice from a machine. It reminds me of the vegetable slicer attachment which is so much better than using a food processor for that task.
As the machine is so fast, you do need to get all your fruit and veg washed and ready before you start. I now don't think the inability to take whole apples as with dedicated juicer is a hassle. You'd have to cut some other things anyway, e.g. if you were using mango, you'd have to take the stone out. And juicing recipes often call for half an avocado or a chunk of cucumber. So quartering a couple of apples isn't much hassle. I just wash and do rough chopping on a large chopping board and put the board by the Kenwood so it's all ready to go. It takes me about five mins for juice from start (getting stuff out of the fridge) to finish.
Cleaning the unit is quite easy once you get to grips with how the unit dismantles and gets put back together so it becomes second nature. Maybe after a week's use.
So all in all, very happy with the purchase. And what great value for money. As you will know if you're reading this, Kenwood attachments can take up storage space. I have a dedicated large drawer for mine. But this juicing attachment hasn't made it that far!
Very good and power
this its very nice product, with power and speed, continus juice and practic ..recomend
COULD BE WORSE!
I like the design, but makes too much noise and can get very messy.
Buy it only if you are deaf and do not mind upsetting the neighbours.
Very fast. You will need an assistant to help you making juice.
Have everything ready, and watch out what you are wearing...can get temperamental.
A gadget if you are short of space, otherwise buy an all in one juice maker!
