Shape up while you stand

Conventional footwear does not provide proper support or aide in correct posture for long periods of standing. With Shape Ups, the simulation of soft ground will ease the stress on your joints, promote correct posture, and strengthen selected muscles as you naturally work to keep your centre of balance.

To properly stand in your Shape Ups, stand upright and find your center of balance with your feet parallel and hip-distance apart.

Shape up while you walk
To walk correctly in Shape Ups, step forward with the middle section of your heel hitting the ground first. This should give you the feeling of walking on soft ground. Roll forward onto the ball of your food and then the flat part of your toes.

Your stance should not be as wide as you walk. Your front foot should still be under your body, giving you a natural and comfortable step. This rhythmic and easy gait will help you maintain your balance. For maximum benefit, strike heel first. Then roll forward.

Get in the routine

As you walk in Shape Ups, be aware of the position of your shoes and ankles. Your ankles should not roll or bend inward, but remain parallel.

The position of your back and neck should be straight. Do not look down; look ahead to where you are going. This will keep your posture straight, resulting in tightening of your back and stomach muscles, and the lengthening of your body into a leaner line.

Exaggerated movements are part of some walking routines (such as knee raises), but with Shape Ups, your movements should be fluid and smooth.

While a natural pace is best for everyday walking, we suggest you switch up your gait -- slowing down to focus on your steps, or kicking it up a notch to get your blood flowing.

It hurts but it works!5
These are great, I was slightly sceptical but the first time I tried them on, the pain in my legs after a 5 minutes walk was enough to convince me that they worked! Now I can describe my 20 minutes daily walk from the station as "exercise" without blushing... And the price is great too. I definitely recommend them.

Comfort and exercise5
Had my pair for a couple of weeks and they are great.When you are wearing them the sole is not that obvious it just look like they have a slightly chunkier sole.
The heal is squigy and so when you walk its like you gently sink with your heal and then roll onto your toe, they come with instructions on how to walk properly to get maximum benefit. I walked round New York for a whole day in mine and my feet felt great, the backs of my legs where aching though so definitely knew they where working and at this price can't be beaten.

Comfy, good looking and they work4
I own a pair of MBTs, but when I saw these at almost half the price I decided to give them a go. I am not disappointed. First of all the Skechers look like training shoes with a bulkier sole. They are a good fit, unlike MBT's where often you need to buy a half size up. They are very comfortable. Out the box I wore them for a 2k brisk walk and there was no rubbing on my feet or heels. My legs got the same workout that I expect from using MBTs, so all I can say is the they are very similar.

Quality wise I think MBTs are slightly more better made, but to be fair my MBTs are not the training shoe type but more a 'walking shoe'. However, the Skechers are a good quality and I am delighted with my purchase.

I was very ill for a long time and spent nearly a year in hospital, resulting in me having poor core strength and weak muscles. Great news is that my posture has improved greatly wearing them and my aching back and stomach muscles have all but gone. I'm a convert.

If you want to try out these type of 'fitness' shoes I would not hesitate to buy the Sketcher Shape Ups. They are considerably less expensive than the competition and every bit as good, in my opinion.

Hopefully Amazon will be able to get the other Skecher Shape Up styles and I'll buy another pair or two.
