A Tentative Blend of First Impressions4
I'm writing this since no other UK review appears on the web and because the machine is apparently on offers at Amazon. OK, so I only unpacked the blender less than two hours ago and have only put it through a few of its paces - so this is a tentative initial report (especially in the light of the appalling feedback on the US sites of its Juiceman equivalent). I had to enter a number of stars to post this so REMEMBER the stars are only tentative and to be confirmed at a later date.

Most users of the US Juiceman (in Britain it undergoes a gender change and the Amazon version is badged 'Juicelady') warn users that initial euphoria is unlikely to last through poor longevity: with motor burn-outs, leaks and seized-up bearings being reported. I'm working on the theory that these things might possibly be due to using the blender's high speed options (inherent in all of its pre-programmed modes)- which I plan to avoid. Since this machine is capable of exceeding most of its rivals by an amazing 10,000 revs I don't think this should be a problem. I had a series of other multi-speed blenders go wrong until I adopted the restraint of running them at lower speeds).

Initial impressions are generally highly favourable - not the most aesthetic beast but it looks workmanlike enough in sheathed in its thin satin aluminium casing skin. It even has the appearance of being well made (despite its track record of failures across the water). Indeed with its blue-lit screen and stainless jug option, this blender initially looks like the best 50 quids worth available - especially when as in its top of the range US 'Juiceman JMS7 Health Centre' guise, it sold for a hefty $229 (twice what a KitchenAid Ultra or Waring costs there).

Incidentally, the Amazon description omits that the machine comes with a clever pulp filter device which facilitates juicing and seems to function well on first use. Indeed, the machine yielded a very high ratio of juice from the apples I put through it. So this model, it appears is probably an effective juicer too. The rating of the machine is @ 900 watts (not the 850 stated). The machine is a little noisy/graunchy - but then no more than most of its non-induction peers. Its jug appears to have a very slight tendency to wobble in use on its large rubbery feet and rubberised jug holder - so a steadying hand on the lid is optional (although the machine remains firmly attached to the worktop). There are some useful design reatures and jug lids seem very secure. The speed memory feature appears to not work on the start-up speed which always appears as 50%. The programs are complex and have 3-stages, but one would need the manual at hand to know what the numbers on the screen indicate, so this is really a waste of the screens potential. Its banality amuses, however, by stating obvious things like 'no jug' and 'power on' (when there's a big red light anyway).

So, so far so good - although crushing ice at 'safe' low speeds renders it a little course, it just made short work of converting frozen cherries (veritable cannonballs)into a puree/smoothy - always difficult to achieve with my previous blenders! So, working on conjecture - if lower speeds are used the blender might last I will report later on.

Superb machine5
I bought this item only relitivly recently, but I can honestly say without any doubts that this machine is certainly worth every penny I paid for it, I used to own a liquidiser when my boys were young, in fact, it was on a kenwood chef machine I used that extensively too, to make them potted beef etc. this machine though is much more robust, and a really solid feel to it, I have used this machine twice a day since I got it, I've not used the stainless steel jug or the filter at all but I've certainly put the other jug through it's passes I find that it performs very well indeed, even at 50%, I have used it up to 80% but I feel it doesn't need the extra speed at all in fact it is rather perturbing at that speed it sounds like it's about to take off, I recommend this machine wholeheartedly and without any reservations at all, as like yourselves I looked into the personal reviews previous to purchase and like the other reviewers I don't know of the problem they have had in the usa, this machine I recommend, I will let you know a further review in another 6 months down the line but I invissage at this point not to have any problems at all, thanks for stopping by to read this review and hope that like myself, you will be as happy with your purchase as I am thanks ...................Jackie Harvey

Real "fast food".5
So far so good. I have had this blender for about 4 weeks, used it 1-2x most days, and it is fast become my favourite gadget. The most powerful and versatile blender I have ever had, and it looks the business too - especially the steel jug. Makes fabulous soups or smoothies in seconds, wonderful smooth nut and seed pates, and even grinds small quantities of seeds. Instruction book is well written and even humerous, although a little more clarity in defining the use of the different speeds would be welcome. I am not throwing out my old blender yet - in case, as the previous reviewer suggests, this one may burn out at some point - at this price, is it too good to be real? I have yet not found a need for using the maximum speed, so it may last forever - watch this space.
