0ne star is too much for this garbage
I purchased the useless bit of equipment last week.
I too could not get the useless bit of equipment to open a tin.
And like the first review says: It is a complete waste of time.
How can any manufacturer let this get out into the open.
I used to rate Haden very well, but after this useless bit of equipment, I don't rate them at all. It is ok for sharpening the knives but I bought it for opening cans and as it says: it is a can opener but only sharpens knifes.
One of the most useless things I have ever bought.
It suppose to open large cans with ease, IT DOES NOT EVEN OPEN A SMALL CAN OF PEAS!!!!

Haden have really let themselves down with this piece of rubbish.

Can't get it to open a tin!
I've had this tin opener for a couple of months and have yet to successfully open a tin! Aligning the cutting blade with the tin is near enough impossible and when you finally do get it to start cutting it usually stops half way round the tin. Absolute waste of time and money.

The unit is much taller/larger than I'd imagined (not really a problem - just a comment). I have not tried to use the knife sharpening feature.

In summary: avoid.

Haden can opener
A couple of months ago I bought a Haden Tall Can Opener from Amazon.

I threw out my old electric can opener, which was working fine but as I had it for about ten years it was getting rusty. Thinking this may be a health hazard I binned it and got the new Haden one

Unfortunately I cannot for love nor money work it. I have now tried four times and it just will not catch

I even had to get a neighbour in and after struggling for some time he actually managed to open a tin. Today I tried again and totally failed.

This is a ridiculous state of affairs and I am distraught that I threw my old one away

Naturally I have no receipt or packing. Please send me a returns label and return my money. This is a terrible design fault - opening a tin should not turn into this frustrating drama

I am most dissatisfied and rue the day I bought it
