Manufacturer's Description
This watch from Casio will take away the hassle of resetting the time when the clocks change at the start and end of British summertime. The integrated Wave Ceptor receiver picks up time calibration signals from transmitters in the UK and mainland Europe to give you the most accurate timekeeping possible. Other features include solar power to remove the need for replacement batteries, dual time display, daily alarm, stopwatch and much more. All of this functionality is packed into a classic gents dress watch design with a stainless steel case back and bracelet strap.

    Good, with a few niggles4
I specifically wanted a watch which was solar-powered and updated by radio from the UK's atomic clock (a feature Casio calls 'Waveceptor'). There are other brands which sell such watches, but I bought the Casio because I liked the look of it and because of the price. I also wanted an alarm function.

Overall, I am very happy with it. The timekeeping is, obviously, excellent; it does however need to be able to receive the radio updates (which occur during the night). For most people, this will be no problem because the whole of the UK is covered by the signal. A slight problem can arise if you live in an older house with thick walls or a block of flats where the signal may not get through. I get around this by leaving it overnight beside a window in my house. This ensures it receives the radio signal and also, in the summer months anyway, also means it gets sunlight from early morning which charges its internal battery.

Another niggle is the stopwatch. Before you can start the stopwatch, you need to press a button to put the watch into stopwatch mode. In doing so, some of the hands rotate from their timekeeping position to their stopwatch position. This can take up to 3 seconds. This is not a problem for most people who know in advance that they are going to use the stopwatch. I am an airline pilot though and sometimes I need to use a stopwatch immediately when something unexpected happens in the cockpit. It can be frustrating when the stopwatch then takes 3 seconds to prepare itself for use. I get around this by leaving the watch in stopwatch mode while I'm at work (the hour and minute hands still display the normal time, so it is still usable as a normal watch in this condition).

The final point worth mentioning is that in day-to-day use, it is simple to use but if you want to set an alarm or change the time zone it displays, things get a bit complicated and I have to refer to the instructions.

On the plus side, it looks and feels like a high-quality watch (better than the photos here suggest). In particular, both the face and the strap seem to be very resistant to scratches.

As I said, overall I am very happy with it and think that, at this price, it offers good value for money.

    Bit complex, but great watch5
As I got this watch out of the metal tin it came in, the hands started to go backwards until it showed the right time. Suitably impressed, I kept on pressing buttons without a clue what I was doing. I finally conceded to read the instructions when I realised it was an hour fast, only to discover that I'd managed to change its local time setting to Paris. I sorted that, the time changed again and its now working perfectly.

If you want a watch with gadgets (i.e., you're a bloke), but don't want some horrible digital affair, this is the watch for you. It looks great and stylish enough for the office or a night out, but it also includes dual time zones, a stop watch with 1/20 of a second timing for the first minute, an alarm and best of all, time syncronisation with the atomic clock, which provides hands going anti-clockwise.

    Great watch - looks great5
I wanted a watch with hands in a metal case with stopwatch and alarm functions. The watch looks good and unlike other designs, the stopwatch and alarm functions don't make the watch display look cluttered.
You need to read the instructions first but otherwise the watch is easy to use. I agree with the other reviewers' comments about the watch looking good. Instructions for adjusting the strap would have helped - but see other reviews on how to do this.
