Review
"It is easy to think of polymer clay as glorified modeling clay, but as a serious craft medium, it requires knowing some basic techniques. These are covered in great detail with excellent photos....Beginners will find many of their questions answered....After mastering the basics one can move on to complex projects such as miniature villages.... Recommended." - Library Journal."

Art and craft still survives and it is polymer
I have to admit I eased in to polymer clay the easy way with a couple of ready made kits. Then I decided it was time to go beyond the mechanics.
How ever for the more adventurous this is a great starter book. It covers tools, techniques, and step by step instructions on being creative with polymer clay. It is organized to take you from ground zero to where not other artist has gone before.
Back in the sixties and seventies people spent a lot more time with unique materials and were sort of back to basics in crafts. Crafts (real crafts where one had to work from design and raw material) seem become scarce from main stream living. During the following years polymer clay has survived and not as just some kids kitsch projects.
The author of this book is the president of the San Diego Polymer Clay Guild and takes the craft seriously. She even works for the National Polymer Clay Guild. If you are wondering why the photographs are so well done Syndee Holt has a Fine Art degree in photography.
Fast, excellent results, even at your first attempt....
I bought this book in conjunction with "Carol Blackburn - How to Make Polymer Clay Beads".
The book has very clear instructions for a variety of projects, and useful tips along the way. The section on cane beads is fab! and I also liked the ideas for adding texture, using everyday items found around the home.
I would highly recommend this book for a beginner, or even someone who has tried polymer clay, but would like to widen their knowledge.
