Manufacturer's Description
Mini turbine head: Designed by Dyson, the mini turbine head is ideal for removing pet hair and fibres from confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs and the car.

Turbine head: Designed by Dyson, the turbine head gives better pick-up across all floor types with no need to change tools. The brushbar can be turned off for rugs and delicate surfaces.

HEPA + Bactisafe: Lifetime HEPA filter and bacteria - killing screen.

Root Cyclone Technology: A Dyson cyclone spins air at high speed. Dirt and dust are thrown out of the airflow and collected in the bin, not on filters or in bags. So unlike other machines, Dyson doesn't clog and lose suction, so it picks up more dirt.

Telescope wrap: Wraps for easy carrying and storage.

Contact head: Articulates responsively at the neck to maintain closest contact with all floor surfaces even as you pull backwards, so it picks up more dirt than conventional floor tools.

Unique hose wrap: For easy storage.

Approved for allergy sufferers: DC08 Telescope Wrap models have been approved by the British Allergy Foundation for allergy sufferers.

No running costs: The pre-motor filter removes particles down to 0.1 micron and is washable. The post-motor filter traps harmful carbon emissions from the motor. This filter never needs replacing.

Sits comfortably on stairs: DCO8 Telescope Wrap is designed to sit on each step as you clean.

Removable tool holster: You can store the tool holster on the machine or on the hose so that the stair, crevice and brush tools are always to hand.

Car and upholstery cleaning: For easier cleaning in confined areas the tools can be fitted directly to the end of the wand or the hose.

Adjustable wand: Adjusts to the length you want and compacts for convenient storage.

Suction release trigger: The suction release trigger reduces suction so that you can clean curtains, upholstery or delicate rugs without them sticking to the cleaner. No need to adjust any dials or switches.

Easy to manoeuvre: With a rear centre of gravity, DCO8 Telescope Wrap turns and manoeuvres responsively on the spot and is easily pulled around furniture.

Clear bin: You can see how well the Dyson works, you can always tell when it's full, it's easy to empty and you can retrieve lost objects.

Large debris pick-up: The additional front channel on the contact head means that larger dirt and debris are not 'snowploughed' across a smooth floor, so you can pick up larger pieces such as rice and nuts first time.

Protective rubber wheels: Over moulded with rubber tyres, the wheels are kinder to your floors than plastic wheels.

Robust construction: Made from the strongest materials available to withstand bumps and bashes.

Just awesome!5
Never wrote a review in my life. But since I relied on so many reviews in the past, and especially when looking for a vacuum cleaner in this price category I simply owe a conrtibution.

I've got 2 cats with so much cat hair all over my place that it simply became unbearable. I've spent surfing the net for a week and came across the Dyson brand for the first time in my life. Like all of you I've had dozens of vacuum cleaners in the past. Let's put it this way: I thought I was using a vacuum cleaner in the past...

It's true that this one feels slightly heavier than a normal one. But that's probably only because my previous one was a GBP 39.- acquisition (never mind the brand). When you open the box, it is slightly cumbersome putting all the pieces together. But there is a very good picture manual and it won't take you more than 15 mins. It's like a toy for big boys! It's also quite exciting. Put it this way: Have you ever thought of putting together a vacuum cleaner?

After the exciting assembly, I put it to the test. Like many others of you, I had to empty the bin only after 1 single use!!! All cat hair was gone! It's very difficult to put this in writing, it's simply a very loud "WOW" experience. My wife couldn't believe that I kept vacuuming for an hour, moving all the furniture around etc.

If you have cats that lose a lot of hair like mine, your place feels filthy because your current vacuum cleaner doesn't do the job at all, then don't even hesitate and get the DC08. btw: I chose this particular model, because it's very compact and doesn't take too much storage space.

The price might seem out of the ordinary, but the quality justifies the price tag.

Very effective, very compact, recommended.4
This is my second Dyson and third vacuum cleaner in 5 years - hopefully it will prove more reliable than the others.

It is a noticeable improvement on the DC05 in terms of vacuuming power and is clearly an extremely effective vacuum. I'm a typically inobservant male but even I can tell (and appreciate) when the carpets have had a good dysoning. I really like the clever way it compacts down into a small, albeit heavy, pod. I'm not a naturally tidy person, and any machine that can neatly wrap itself up is a big improvement on the jumble of tubes and accessories you normally get.

When researching which vacuum to get I was a bit wary of the head being 'turbo' rather than electrically powered, but it performs very well and I don't think a powered version would be any improvement. Again, this is better than earlier versions of Dyson and Miele that I've used where the so-called Turbo heads were somewhat ineffective.

The thing I'm not so keen on is the surprisingly small capacity of the dust container - it reaches the 'Max' level very quickly. This could be because we have a particularly dusty house, or a particularly effective vacuum, but I think it's just a plain small container. That being said, bagless is definitely best as I hate feeling ripped off by the price of the bespoke vacuum bags you need with other cleaners. Perhaps the relatively small container is a good thing as it means that the inevitable cloud of dust emerging during the emptying process is also relatively small, and you can therefore hold your breath and retreat to a safe distance without turning blue or being overtaken by something akin to the sandstorm in The Mummy.

The two other areas I would fault are the rather bulky "wand" and the accessory storage. The wand is a clever design in terms of how compact it goes, but being plastic it has to be very wide to be strong enough for the job. I would have thought that a telescoping metal tube would have been both lighter and easier to use. As it is, it works fine but it is an area that could be improved if Mr Dyson chose to depart from his all-plastic design rule. There is no 'on board' storage of the accessory nozzles etc on the machine, again a bit disappointing and it gets away from the concept of a machine that stores itself as a neat compact unit.

Despite a couple of niggles, I don't know of a better or more effective vacuum. This performs very well, seems robust, and I'm a very happy customer.

Excellent4
This vacuum is awesome. We keep the little turbine attachment on all the time and the amount of hair it picks up from the carpets is amazing. We've got beige carpets and we've always had to really put our backs into vacuuming hair up but this requires very little effort.

The only downsides I can think of is that when you adjust the length of the hose it never holds for long and also when you touch the wall with the head the turbine head stops revolving so you have to switch off and switch on the cleaner. Pretty minor points on the whole though!
