In a nutshell:
Video games based on movies have never had a terrific track record but this looks like breaking the mould forever. Not only is the Peter Jackson himself involved; but so is the Michel Ancel, creator of video game classics such as Rayman. The results look extraordinary.
The lowdown:
You take on the roles of both Jack Driscoll and the mighty Kong. Being the big monkey is great, naturally, but the feeling of power is neatly turned on its head when you play as the considerably more vulnerable Jack. Overall, it's an intense, absorbing romp.
Most exciting moment:
Escaping down some white water rapids as a puny human, chased by two tyrannosaurs rex.
Since you ask:
Peter Jackson loved Michel Ancel's Beyond Good & Evil game so much that he asked him to make Kong.
The bottom line:
Potentially, the most cinematic video game ever made.
Harrison Dent

Monkey business
There have been disappointing results when a movie director and game company have worked together, but King Kong is a different result. It doesn't feel like a game world, it feels like a movie world. Compare the movie and game and you'll get similiar results. First off, you play as Jack Driscoll, scriptwriter and hero of the story. Rest assured, there's no writing to be done. This is a fight for survival. There are dinosaurs and creepy crawlies everywhere so what do you do? Smash open a cleverly-dropped seaplane crate and take out the weapon inside - could be a pistol, machine gun, shotgun or sniper rifle - and then start shooting them! It's cool, fending off T-Rexes with a machine gun, luring him into traps and using other little dinos as bait. Also all over the island are spears. These you can either throw or do a melee attack. Oh, and don't forget burning brushwood with it that block your path! Soon after, you'll be able to take control of Kong himself, swinging from trees, wrestling T-Rexes and rescuing damsel-in-distress, Ann. These levels are fantastic and a great experience. Also after you've completed the game, you can gain access to incredible extras such as cast & crew interviews and production art! Get it now before Kong wrecks it up!
KING KONG ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
Awesome. This game is superb. Kong allows you to play 1st person as Jack and at various stages allong the way as Kong in 3rd person. The 1st person shooter levels make up the bulk of the playing and are action packed, and extremely fast paced with the non player characters building momentum and atmosphere throughout. The Kong levels can be a tad frustrating, but some Kong like button bashing should suffice. The only drawback is that the game is comprised of numerous short stages, meaning death is usually followed by regeneration at convieniant areas nearby, therefore limiting the difficulty. Overall, excellent fun, highly cinemantic and addictive but possibly a little easy.
play as Jack, play as Kong
This is a charming game. I don't normally like the kind where you are playing a shooter, but once you've fought your way past many dinosaurs and got through the gates, you can change into Kong which is far more exciting.
The other really sweet thing is that at the end of the game, you can fly a plane over Kong and rescue him by taking him back to Skull Island.
